Weatherstock award winning band Andúnië presents a remembrance of an holiday celebrated in ancient days in the Elven city of Gondolin.
The Gates of Summer is an event centered around the rising of the sun. Like the Gondolindhrim, we will gather together during the darkness to await the coming dawn. As we wait, let no voice be raised in word or song. Only low musics will be played as the night dies away. Expectantly we will watch the horizon in the east and as the glory of the sun begins to lighten the sky, we will raise a glorious symphony of music to welcome its rising. Then shall all engage in talk and laughter and singing and dancing and every joyous thing. For the season of summer is here bringing its light and warmth to all.
In honor of the Gates of Summer festival, Andúnië will be taking the LOTRO music system to new heights by presenting for your enjoyment a full length performance of the Pastoral Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, transcribed for LOTRO by Fionnuala of Landroval. After this performance, those attending the event will be invited to present their own songs, tales or poems about the summer season or the sun. Turbine is providing codes for Perlino Steeds and Turbine Points for us to award as prizes to the offerings that impress us the most.
This event will be held in the old ruined fortress of Ost Barandor in the Brandy Hills. This location has been chosen because of its spectacular view of the Eastern horizon and the rising sun. (Pray, Elbereth, that it will not rain!) We will be meeting there for the event at 9 pm EDT. However, anyone who would like guidance through the hills to the ruins, we will provide an escort from the Buckland gate at 8:45 pm EDT.
Come dressed in your best and brightest festive attire and bring your dancing shoes.
