’The Hobbit’ Films Group 5 months agoI heard once that today, you are the sum total of what you once were … you can change your future by realigning yourself in this moment to become what you will be. For some reason, the Hobbit reminds me of this. In Bilbo’s house, you see the dwarves realigning themselves for the journey that will carry them through the next few films, but…[Read more]

’The Hobbit’ Films Group 5 months agoOh … yeah! …. my first 3D movie down … next IMAX! Okay, I reached out to block once, but no more spoilers from me! hehe
-
Saw it in 3D Imax. No FPS though, I’d have to drive at least an extra half an hour to see that. I was happy anyway though. :)
-
I was so happy, I dragged two of my barn friends with me who had never even seen LOTR or 3D ever … they were hooked! They were disappointed to discover the sequels weren’t coming out for a few more months … oh, well, I told them we’ve been waiting over a year for this! And yes, Hobbiton was so adorable … I coiuld live there I really could.
-
I gotta ask, what’s a barn friend? Hedgehogs perhaps? ;)
-
hehe, good guess, but wrong! … a barn friend would be one of my coworkers from my part time working at a barn on weekends. I live and work in several different areas, so you my friend, are pigeonholed as a Tolkien friend … so now you know what to name us to the rest of the world : )
-
Ah yes. I do the same with my various friends and acquaintances from the various circles I travel in.

’The Hobbit’ Films Group 5 months agoThe fight scene immediately before they enter Rivendell was absolutely phenomenally BREATHTAKING! First time a fight scene focused on the landscape and I loved it.
-
Now that you mention it – it was great to see all the view.
Saw The Hobbit again this evening with my daughter -who was unable to get home last night.
It was just as wonderful in 2D as it was in Imax (I now realize I totally missed the 48 f/sec- will have to ’torture’ myself and see it again)-
I seen it in 2d mode this evening. Tomorrow is the HFR 3D in a theater which has couple seating (not that I’m 1/2 of a couple) and they serve up gourmet food and premium drinks. First time I’ve utilized the 21+ section of this wonderful theater and I plan on indulging myself!
-
WOW- sounds like fun! Actually never heard of this type of theatre…. (but then I mostly go with my children- but wait- 2 of them are over 31….)
Enjoy yourself! :)
-
That does sound really crazy cool.

I also think it is interesting that the Dwarves were once a much different group of people. They were very proud, and craftsmen … builders of immense underground realms. When they meet at Bilbo’s place, they come as gypsy-esce vagrants … a people that have adapted to life on the move, and must meet wherever they can, even dropping in on a…[Read more]
The Dwarves as a people have talents that are extremely enviable … a creativity that once energized is truly formidable. From bare rocks, they created a magical world underground, but all of their skills — all that they were teaching their young — had ground to a standstill when they found themselves in exile. But even a dwarf on his own on…[Read more]
For some odd reason, I was never drawn to Tolkien’s dwarves. But I admit that for the past year, I’ve learned little bits here and there that caused me to pursue more knowledge of their history…and this! What you have written here is great! Thanks for giving me yet another avenue of Tolkien in which to spend immense amounts of time in my near future :)
Thanks Knowfere! We are lucky because we have among us at MME “Dwarrow Scholar” who has an incredibly vast knowledge of dwarves. Those interested can check out Viking’s feature of his website at http://mymiddleearth.com/2012/05/13/mme-featured-website-the-dwarrow-scholar/ or at Dwarrow Scholar at http://dwarrowscholar.mymiddleearth.com/ I…[Read more]
